My husband and I had decided renovating was the choice for us rather than moving, and were finally ready to find the right builder to complete our double story extension on our detached property. I in particular struggled with whom we would ultimately choose, as I had some negative experiences via family & friends with other builders. A large extension was not something I was relishing, should we make a mistake with the builder we took a leap of faith and decided on, regardless of how much we researched prior with a 40K plus build.

I couldn’t have been more wrong in this case.

James Kenyon, personally helped from the architect, advising where certain logistics would be better suited from his many years of experience, to coordinating every aspect of the build ie roof, plumbing, electrics, plastering and skips. James kept on top of absolutely everything in record time- without a single hitch!

I am ecstatic to say, I have never been more wrong about my expectation, and the actual experience that resulted in our fantastic extension.

I whole heartedly could not recommend JW Kenyon Construction enough, to the point, I would happily speak to anyone if they had any doubts in trusting: You are in very safe hands if you choose JW Kenyon Construction.

Jimmy was on hand at all times making sure all trades were there at the given time. His knowledge is second to none as we did want to change a few things around but nothing was a problem.

I have found that working with JW Kenyon Construction Ltd to be uncomplicated and straightforward, both in the execution of their works on site and also their job running and administration skills which has brought me into contact with their office staff and administration processes which appear to be second to none.

As a company, there is a high degree of professionalism and diligence in the carrying out of their work with excellent communication between their in house office staff and the on site personnel and trades people carrying out the work on the ground. Story rear extension in 2022, following recommendations from family and other tradesmen.

From offering advice on the planning and design through until completion he was nothing but fantastic.

His planning and organisation was second to none which meant that the build was completed with great efficiency to an exceptionally high standard.

Throughout the work his communication was excellent and provided updates on a daily basis and any issues which occurred were dealt with swiftly.

I first had the pleasure of meeting James Kenyon in 1996, when James was recommended by a business associate.

I was attempting my fist self-build project, which was at first a great idea and we set off full of enthusiasm and ambition.

Unfortunately, this didn’t last long and the reality of what I had undertaken was not as straight forward as I had thought.

However, after meeting James, I soon realised all I needed was an expert in this field and that is what I found.

James is an extremely knowledgeable and professional individual, that specialises in domestic construction work.

Together we completed my first self-build project, within both my timescale and more importantly budget. To a very high standard of care and quality.

I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending James Kenyon, to anybody who is thinking of undertaking building work for themselves and particularly in their personal home.

The proof as they say is in the pudding because in 2014, when my wife and I decided to undertake another self-build project. The first call we made, was to James….. “Do you fancy doing it all again? We are looking for another plot of land”.

Again, James was instrumental in the execution of our second self-build. This was again completed on time and to the very highest standard but unfortunately not within budget. But that was entirely our doing, nothing to do with James, despite his best efforts. A man’s home is his castle, and it takes a very special type of person to care as much about that castle, as the king does, and James is that man.

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending James and just to let you know James, we are looking for another plot.

There is quite simply no one better! I have known James for a long time and would not even consider using anyone else for any building project. Over the years he has completed 2 extensions for me, along with one for my parents. All three have been to the highest standard, with every deadline either met or exceeded. The most recent project was a large, modern double story extension. James exceed our expectations in every area. He projected managed the entire project from start to finish and the end result was to the highest standard. The communication he provided every step of the way was exemplary, he set out the timescales, regularly discussed things to ensure everything was done to our requirements and delivered on every promise made. His team, of various different tradesman, all work to a high standard and are always polite and professional. I seriously would not consider going to anyone else and would highly recommend anyone to contact him.

Jimmy built a large flat roofed extension on our house. The work started exactly when he said it would, it finished quickly – well within the time he’d stated – and he and his team were on site every single day from 8.00 – 4.30, working efficiently, neatly and to a very high standard.

We cannot fault the quality of any aspect of Jimmy’s work. He communicates promptly and clearly. He offers advice, solutions and creative ideas. He’s highly experienced, professional, focussed, hard-working, reliable, conscientious and honest. His friendly, approachable, no-nonsense approach makes him easy to get on with and it’s clear that he cares about the client and doing the right job for them. He instilled confidence in us from the very beginning and we weren’t let down in any way. An expert project manager, Jimmy is a strong leader and his team live up to his expectations of them. Electricians, plumbers, roofers etc came when they were needed – there were no delays, no corner cuttings and no hidden costs. All legal aspects such as planning permission and building regulations were dealt with properly. The whole operation was carried out with minimum stress on ourselves, even with great care and ingenious methods being taken to protect the rest of the house from dust and interruption.

All post-build snagging and queries were followed up in person. If you phone Jimmy, he always gets back to you. He sees the job through to the end and beyond. Once he’s worked for you, you won’t want anyone else. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him.

I have recently moved into our new build Georgian style Home. The build was extremely complex and I was struggling to find the right people for the project. Jimmy and his company came highly recommended by numerous sources and did not disappoint. His knowledge, skill and professionalism is outstanding and I would have no hesitation in recommending JW Kenyon construction.

In 2008 J W Kenyon Construction built our home, he was not just a builder, he was also the project manager. He arranged all the trades to almost a military timetable, from arranging the structural engineering, piling, building, roofing, electrical, plumbing, joinery, plastering, all services, and building warranties.

He kept us informed throughout the build, he kept to budget and the building site didn’t look like a building site, by the end of each day the site was tidied and safe. He presented us with options and suggested alternatives based on his depth of knowledge on what works and what doesn’t. It was 16 weeks from start of piling to being handed the keys. Above all he is honest, very professional, and very reliable. If we build again, we will not hesitate in using him again.

JW Kenyons came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Ours was a complicated extension/rebuild and from the very outset, the project management of the process was just perfect. The contract was completed on time, on budget and even unforeseen issues with the plans, were handled with professionalism and solutions. We are delighted with the workmanship, attention to detail and just as importantly, communication during the process, and have indeed since recommended other clients, who have all been more than happy to with the work.

JW Kenyon Construction Ltd built our new house in 2019/2020. It’s on a sea front location in Lytham, Lancashire. We love living here in our beautifully built house.

It’s a detached house measuring approximately 3850 square feet in total (358 square meters). The construction was a very complex build, especially the extremely complicated roof detail.

JW Kenyon started the job in October 2019 and finished building the shell in March 2020 despite some very adverse weather conditions. At all times during the build, Jimmy liaised with the architect and structural engineer in his extremely knowledgeable and professional manner. Indeed, when I met the structural engineer on-site at the pre-plastering stage, he said to me that JW Kenyon’s standard is the best he had ever seen.

Their build quality and attention to detail are outstanding. They also have a team of quality competent sub-contractors. Jimmy is also very personable and approachable, and he made the whole project seamless. I have no hesitation in recommending them for any future projects.

Jimmy was an absolute pleasure to work on our recent project. From the initial contact right through to finish his advice, professionalism and expertise shined through. Wow. It was an absolute pleasure to have Jimmy do our extension for us – and I NEVER thought I would say that about any building project or renovation!

From quoting to completion he has been fantastic. He came in on budget and to time. It is so rare nowadays to get a tradesperson who sticks to one job at a time, and Jimmy did exactly that, meaning that our sunroom extension with balcony was completed in the timescales given. Jimmy and Keith worked through the heatwaves of May / June when most people were keeping in the shade, and I just wish I could have done more to help with keeping them cooler. It didn’t stop progress in the slightest though. He kept the site tidy and before starting introduced himself to the neighbours, which was lovely. The neighbours are also very impressed!

The extension is fantastic. You know you have chosen the right person when the brickwork is the neatest you have ever seen, even though you know it’s going to be covered up with plaster! His liaison with building control, suppliers and contractors was brilliant, and he is a guy who just likes to get stuff done. We up-specced the balcony, and Jimmy dealt with this in his stride.

Special mention to his colleague Keith who was great too and such a nice guy to chat to, as was the roofer, electrician and plumber he brought onsite. He chooses his contractors well!

We wish we had another project for him to do right now, just so that we could keep about a little longer.

And I am only a little bit sorry that I tried to steal Teddy.
